European Beech is a stately tree full of ornate branching, These are stately trees that you will see on old estates. It has smooth dark bark similar to the American Beech, but darker in color.
The European Beech offers a full canopy of leaves that change color with the season. Their leaf buds are large and produce large serrated green leaves that fill out the tree nicely. The tree branching is impressive and full of muscular looking branches.
The leaves change to beautiful yellow, orange colors before changing to a light brown in late fall. The tree retains many of its leaves through the winter offering some screening. The European Beech is a favorite for privacy hedges because of its screening canopy and thick branching habit. It is truly an impressive tree and hedge specimen!
