Red Rocket Crape Myrtle (Lagerstroemia indica ‘Whit VI’) is a very special variety of Crape myrtle that produces wine red leaves in the spring and summer which then change to dark purplish green, providing a striking contrast to its vibrant Red late summer flowers. This is a desirable fast growing, compact, multi-stemmed shrub that is ideal for use as an accent shrub or small tree. It is deciduous, highly resistant to powdery mildew, and will die back in the winter to re-flower from older stems in the spring. It blossoms profusely with beautiful Red Flowers in August and September. Plant in a sunny, sheltered location away from the winter winds. USDA zones 6- 9.
